This compact Z-Wave sensor keeps tabs on doors and windows by detecting when they open or close. It pairs with your Z-Wave network to trigger security alerts or automation routines when status changes. The sensor can communicate with up to 7 Z-Wave devices, making it useful for setting off alarms, notifications, or actions like turning on lights when a door opens. The setup is straightforward. You get two magnet options: a standard plastic-covered magnet for mounting on the door or window frame, plus a thin "naked" magnet if you want to hide the sensor on the edge of a door or window. Installation uses either the included screws or double-sided tape, whichever fits your situation better. The magnets also stick with double-sided tape. One cool feature is tilt detection, which lets the sensor report how far a window has opened rather than just whether it's open or closed. Power comes from a single 1/2 AA battery rated at 3.6V, which the manufacturer claims lasts about 3 years. The sensor reaches up to 164 feet outdoors with your Z-Wave network. It includes S2 security support for encrypted communication. The package has everything you need to get started: the main sensor, both magnet types, mounting tape and screws, plus nails as alternatives. Note that it's for indoor use only and shouldn't mount on metal frames. You'll need a separate Z-Wave network controller to use it.
